McGregor, Ia. - Funeral services for Mrs. Melinda Jane Claudy, 79, who died at the McGregor Hospital Saturday following a brief illness, were held here Monday at 1:30 o'clock at the Methodist Church, with the Rec. G.W. McMichael, pastor, officiating.
Born Oct. 9, 1859, on a farm five miles from McGregor, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Davis, Mrs. Claudy was a lifelong resident of McGregor. On Oct. 23, 1877, she was married to Daniel Claudy at Elkader. Mrs. (sic) Claudy died 24 years ago. She was a member of the Methodist Church here, and also of the local chapter of the Women's Relief Corps.
Survivors are one son, Oscar of Revillo, S.D.; six daughters, Mrs. Blanche Sanderson of Webb, Mrs. Eva Bergemeyer of Nora Springs, Mrs. Ruth Pollock of Denison, Mrs. Olive Spang of Lake Park, Mrs. Ethel Stroman of Osceola, Mo., and Mrs. Margery Georgen of McGregor; 14 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Burial was in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
