Laura A. Schnuelle Ihde died Saturday, June 13, 1987 at Elkader Care Center, Elkader, Iowa following a long illness.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 16, 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville. Rev. David Palm officiating. Organist, Marian Schutte. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery, Postville. Schultz's Funeral Home, Monona was in charge of services.
Laura A. Schnuelle Ihde was born January 18, 1907 in rural Allamakee County near Postville, to parents Simon and Elizabeth Heins Schnuelle.
She was baptized March 26, 1907 and confirmed September 5, 1920 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville. She received her education at Highland school, rural Postville.
December 18, 1929 she married Lewis Ihde at the Lutheran parsonage in Postville. The couple had three sons and two daughters. They farmed near Castalia until retiring in 1975.
Preceding her in death were her parents; two sons, Larry and Lorenz; three sisters, Elsie, Clara and Vila and two brothers, Fritz and William.
Surviving is a son, Leslie and his wife Laura, Monona; 2 daughters, Rosalia (Mrs. Orville Ehde), Waukon and Helen (Mrs. Duane Ruroden), Monona; 5 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; one brother, Clarence Schnuelle, Waukon and 3 sisters, Mrs. Elmer (Marie) Ihde, Anna Schnuelle, and Lydia Schnuelle, all of Ossian.
Pallbearers were James Buerger, William Ohloff, Donald Fields, Roger Winters, Bryce Ruroden and Oliver Doerring.
