Postville Herald, Thur., 12 Oct. 1933. Luana News column.
The neighborhood was shocked when word was passed around Thursday evening that Arthur Wirkler of Monona had met his death while repairing windows in the upper part of the barn on his recently purchased farm, known as the Carl Schultz place, two miles west of Luana. He fell from a window through a feed chute, meeting almost instant death it is believed. He was found shortly afterward by his tenant, Fred Bruns. Our sympathy goes out to Mrs. Wirkler and children and other relatives. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon from the Lutheran church in Monona.
Second item, same paper, date, column:
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Lambert and children of Atlantic are visiting at the G. M. Lambert home, being called here by the death of her brother, Arthur Wirkler.
(NOTE: Burial is in Monona City Cemetery.)
