Clayton County Register, 11 Jan. 1939.
Thursday, December 05, 1939, Mr. Jacob Reinhardt was claimed by death after several years of much suffering. Mr. Reinhardt reached the age of 79 years, seven months and three days.
The deceased was a son of John Reinhardt, and his wife, Anna Marie Weinnman, and was born in Marion township on June 02, 1859. Mr. Reinhardt grew to manhood in this county. He spent his early years in farming, and after moving to town, did various other types of work. For three years he farmed near Kimball, S.D., and then one year in Remsen, Iowa. The rest of the time he spent in Clayton county. In the year 1910 he came to Elkader, with his family, to live.

The five surviving children, all of Elkader, are: Mrs. Geo. Taake, Mrs. Henry Hartman, Mrs. William Katschkowsky, Henry Reinhardt and Violet. Besides the above named children, his wife, nine grandchildren, one great grandchild and one sister, Mrs. J. P. Meyer, of Blairstown, Iowa, survive him.
The deceased was a member of the Frieden's Evangelical church.
Funeral services were held last Sunday afternoon at 1:30 at the late home and at two o'clock in the Frieden's Evangelical church with burial in the East Side cemetery, the Rev. P. Kitterer officiating.
(Note: Month of death is an obvious newspaper error and should be January.)
