SUDDEN DEATH
On Monday evening last Mrs. Eliza Wallace, who formerly resided at Elkader, but who has been keeping house for her son, Ed. Whipple, at his Cox Creek creamery near Osborne, for some time past, was found dead in the living apartments. The circumstances surrounding her death are as follows: Her son, Edward, was assisting J. M. Carpenter during the day, and on going home about seven o'clock found her lying face downwards on the floor. He immediately summoned assistance but death had claimed her for his own. A coroner's jury was impaneled, and returned a verdict of death from heart disease. Deceased was 62 years of age, and leaves six grown children to mourn her loss. The funeral took place at this place yesterday, her remains being laid to their long rest in the eastside cemetery.~source: Elkader Weekly Register, Nov 1, 1888
