W.J. Moran, father of Mrs. R.S. Eckles, died late yesterday afternoon at his home in Elkader, Iowa. Mr. Moran had been in failing health for some time but had seemed somewhat improved the last few days. Mrs. Eckles, who had been with her father the past two weeks, had returned home Friday when he showed improvement, but returned to Elkader immediately after receiving word of his death. She was accompanied by her nephew, Bill Rogers, and Mrs. Rogers.
Besides his wife and Mrs. Eckles, he is survived by six other daughters and several grandchildren. Requiem high mass will be offered at 9:30 o'clock tomorrow morning in the Elkader Catholic church. Burial will be in Elkader.

William J. Moran, who died at his home here at 5:25 p.m. July 28th of a heart ailment, following a lingering illness, had reached the age of 74 years, two months and 11 days.
The son of John and Mary (Kelly) Moran, William John Moran was born here in Elkader, May 17, 1867.
March 31, 1891, he was united in marriage with Minnie Musfeldt and eight children were born to this union. One son, Glen, died in infancy but he is survived by his widow and seven daughters, as follows:
Mrs. Eva Rogers, Elkader.
Mrs. W. H. Schmidt, Miss Mabel Moran, Miss Hilda Moran and Miss Viola Moran, all of Chicago.
Mrs. A. J. Mulroney, Washington D.C..
Mrs. R. S. Eckles, Moberly, Mo.Seven grandchildren also survive.
Mr. Moran received his education in St. Joseph's school, here, and for many years was engaged in the livestock buying and shipping business. For several years he was bailiff of the district court under former Sheriff E. H. McGhee of McGregor.
Funeral services were held last Week Wednesday morning at St. Joseph's church and burial was made in the East Side cemetery, the Rt. Rev. Msgr. J. P. Taken officiating. Casket-bearers were: A. J. Johnson, Leo Niemeyer, LeRoy Dittmer, John F. Maley, Howard Wacker and Merritt Hamilton.
Relatives and friends attending the services included all his daughters and the following: W. H. Schmidt and sons Robert and Howard of Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Rogers of Moberly, Mo.; Thomas Rogers, Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. L. F. Cook, Oelwein; Michael and Sheila Mulroney, Washington, children of Mrs. A. J. Mulroney; Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Sargent, Strawberry Point; Robert Bushkofsky and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bushkofsky of Littleport.
