Funeral services for Emil Schlitter, age 82, were held Friday afternoon July 2, 1965 at 2:00 in Pilgrim E.U.B. Church in Monona, Iowa with Rev. Bud C. Wetter of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin officiating. Burial was in the Monona City Cemetery.

Mr. Schlitter was born a son of Adolph and Caroline Schlitter, on October 21, 1882 in Linton Township, Allamakee County, Iowa. He died Monday, June 28, 1965 at the Prairie du Chien hospital. He was baptized November 15, 1883 by Rev. Charles Schneider. He was a member of the E.U.B. and attended regularly until his health failed. He received his education in the rural schools of his home community.

He was married to Lulu Hensel at Watson, Iowa February 18, 1915. They observed their Golden Wedding Anniversary February 21, 1965. After their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Schlitter went to live on the farm north of Monona now operated by Gaylord Thompson. They then moved to a farm west of Monona now owned by Milton Schroeder. For more than 30 years they have been living at their present farm in Linton Township, Allamakee County.

Preceding him in death were 2 brothers and a sister who died in infancy. His parents and sisters, Wilhelminia, Mathilda, Emma, and brothers Herman, Theodore, William, John and Albert. He was the last survivor of this pioneer family from Germany.

Surviving are his widow Lulu, a daughter Marjorie and a son, David.

Music was provided by Mrs. Justus Kammerer, Janet Wachter, Jackson Turner, and Harlan Hass. Miss Sharon Topel was the organist. Pallbearers were Eldred, Everett, Donald, Robert, and Herb Schlitter, Gerwin Martins, George Topel, and George Franck.
