Lois A. Mork
Lois A. Mork, daughter of William and Effie (Diamond) Biggs, was born March 30, 1907 in Monona, Iowa. She died September 15, 1995 at Veterans Memorial Hospital, Waukon, Iowa. She was 88 years old.
Lois Mork graduated from Monona High School in 1927 as a member of the first graduating class in the new school. On February 18, 1931 she was married to Robert Edwin Mork in Rockford, Ill. by Rev. Sam Taylor, Lois's uncle.
She farmed with her husband in the Monona area until moving to Waukon in 1986. While in the Monona area, she was a member of the Garden City United Methodist church and ladies groups there. Since 1986, she had been a member of St. Paul's United Methodist in Waukon. She was a member of both Allamakee and Clayton County Farm Bureau. She was active in all aspects of the farm operation, although she was particularly fond of the livestock. She enjoyed traveling, raising flowers and decorating cakes. She had been a resident of the Good Samaritan Center in Waukon since July of 1993.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Robert Edwin Mork who died in May of 1995, two sister Carrie Ziegler and Dorothy Dull and an infant brother.
She is survived by a daughter, Joan and husband, Richard Bieber of Waukon; a son, Roger Mork; grandchildren, George and wife, Jamie Bieber, Edward and wife, Amy Bieber, all of Waukon, and Cindy Whitehead of Texas.
Funeral services were held Sunday, September 17, 1995 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church with Rev. Karl Giese officiating. Casket bearers were Dan Gruber, Tennis Mork, Peter Bieber, Jr., Milton Klima, Hugh Varty, George Bieber, Edward Bieber, Bernard Brasnahan. Honorary casket bearers were Robert McNally, Lynn Morrow, Clarence Thomson, Harold Koth, Ed Meyer, Harold Starry, Harlan Hass and Allen Leas. Martin Funeral Home of Waukon was in charge of arrangements. Burial was at Monona City Cemetery.
