Elkader, Ia. - Funeral services for Mrs. Martha Prouty, 82, who died at her home here Monday, were conducted at the Illyria Church with burial in the adjoining cemetery. The Rev. George Richter, pastor of the local Congregational Church, officiated.
As Martha Isabel Ogle, she was born near Illyria on Feb. 5, 1861, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Ogle. On Nov. 15, 1882 she was married to Marshall Prouty and they lived for a short time in Dubuque and in Wadena, later moving to Elkader where the home had since been made.
She is survived by three sons, Dean, Devillo, and Douglas; a daughter, Dorothy, all of Elkader; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Prouty was a member of the Congregational Church, the Royal Neighbors, and the Service Star Legion.
Her husband and one son preceded her in death.
