Elgin Echo, Thursday, 31 December 1908.

Dale, the two-year-old child of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Opperman, of Strawberry Point, was scalded to death by falling into a tub of boiling water. The water had just been emptied from the boiler into a tub, which was on the floor, and the little fellow crawled upon the side of the tub and losing his balance, fell into the hot water. The mother was admitting a visitor when the accident occurred.
