Mrs. John Butikofer passed away at her home east of town, Sunday, July 29, and the funeral was held from the Apostolic church, Wednesday, August 1. She was a native of Switzerland and was 77 years, 2 months and 14 days of age at the time of her death. She leaves her husband and four sons; Joseph, John, Samuel and Louie, and one daughter, Mrs. Ben Schneider, also many relatives and friends to mourn their loss. She had lived a long and useful life and was prepared to go when the summons came. The immediate cause of her death was asthma. Interment was made in the church cemetery.

(A separate item notes: Joe Schneider and wife and Louie Schneider and wife of West Bend were called here by the death of their aunt, Mrs. John Butikofer, whose funeral they attended Wednesday.).

NOTE: The WPA records show Elizabeth Butikofer 1840 - 29 July 1917 as buried in the Dunkard cemetery, Marion township, Clayton county. The IGPP shows gravestone photos of many Butikofer burials in Clayton and Fayette counties, but none for this Elizabeth.
