Garnavillo, Ia. - Arlene Puelz, three-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Puelz, died at 5 o'clock Monday morning from injuries suffered Sunday night when she was struck by an automobile while crossing the street here. Driver of the car was Al Barker, 40, employed as a farm hand on the Jim Downey place near Elkader, according to Clayton County Sheriff E.W. Carisen.
The accident occurred at 5:45 o'clock Sunday night. The child, following a call from her mother, started across the street when she was rundown by Barker's car as it was traveling on Highway 52. An examination disclosed the girl had suffered a fractured skull, a broken leg, and numerous bruises. The Sheriff said no inquest would be held.
Survivors include the victim's parents and a younger sister. Funeral arrangements have not ben completed.
