Strawberry Point, Ia. - Mary Whittle, 14-months-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Whittle, Jr., drowned Sunday evening in the water tank on the farm, located six and one-half miles northeast of here. The child had apparently wandered away from the home and accidentally fell into the tank, officials said.
Survivors include her parents; two brothers, Lawrence and Pat; and two sisters, Jo Ann and Katherine.

Mary Whittle, thirteen month old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Whittle, who live six and one half miles northeast of Strawberry Point, drowned in a water tank at the Whittle home about 7:30 Sunday evening. She had been playing with her sisters and brothers about the farm yard while her parents were busy doing the milking and had been missing only a short time when search was made for her. The water in the tank was roily and the body was discovered by searching around with sticks. Surviving are her parents, two brothers, Lawrence and Pat; two sisters, Joan and Katherine. Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at the Sacred Heart church at Cox Creek with Rev. J. T. Boyle officiating. Burial in the Strawberry Point cemetery.
