Strawberry Point, Ia. - Funeral services for Andrew Hughes, 43, will be held here Thursday afternoon at the Congregational Church, according to arrangements completed Wednesday. Mr. Hughes died Monday night at the Veterans' Hospital at Des Moines, where he had been receiving treatment for heart trouble since March 1.
He was born here on Dec. 10, 1896, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Ambrose Hughes. During the World War, he was a member of the Rainbow Division. At the end of the war, he completed a four-year agricultural course at Ames.
He was married here June 23, 1921 to Clara Opperman. She died July 1, 1929. He was later married to Ruth Jones, who survives with three children: James, William and Kathryn; and his mother, all of Strawberry Point; five sisters, Mrs. Ray Cooper of Buckeye, Ariz., Mrs. Peter Anderson of Gilbert, Mrs. Harriett Tatsch of Brookline, Mass., Mrs. Casey Fliehler of Strawberry Point, and Mrs. Francis Baxter, Crescent, Okla.; and two brothers, Amos of Albuquerque, N.M. and Howard of Fort Dodge.
