Funeral services for Theodore Otto Schlitter, age 88, were held Sunday afternoon April 16 at 2:00 at Pilgrim E.U.B. Church with Rev. Clifton Ellerbeck officiating. The body lay in state at the church from 1:00 in the afternoon until the time of service. Burial was in the Monona City Cemetery.

Mr. Schlitter died Friday, April 14, 1961, after a short illness at the Postville hospital. He was born a son of Adolph and Caroline (Zieso) Schlitter October 1, 1872 in Linton Township, Allamakee County, Iowa. He married Netti Alice Grace Sutter in her parent's home near the Old Stone Church at Watson, June 26, 1901. They had the privilege to observe their Golden Wedding Anniversary before her death October 8, 1952.

Mr. Schlitter had been a lifelong resident of Monona following the occupation of farming just east of town. His later years he made his home with his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Art Larson of Postville, Iowa. He was a member of the E.U.B. Church and was faithful in attendance. He also attended the Postville E.U.B. with his daughter until his illness.

In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by two daughters and one grandchild, all who died in infancy, 3 sisters, 3 brothers, and three siblings who died in infancy. Surviving are 1 daughter, Ivanell Larson of Postville, 3 sons, Eldred Schlitter of Postville, Everett Schlitter of Waukon, and Gaylord Schlitter on the farm near Monona. Two brothers, Albert Schlitter, and Emil Schlitter of Monona, and eleven grandchildren.

Music was provided by a quartette of Harlan Hass, David Schlitter, Jackson Turner, and Bill Peters. Mrs. Lila Debes was the organist. Pallbearers were Alvin and Walter Kaiser, Carlton, Elmer, and Herb Schlitter, Bert Topel, George Franck, and Alfred Fett.
