Marie Fischer, 84, of Garnavillo died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003 at the Guttenberg Municipal Hospital.
Services were conducted by Rev. Bruce Wrightsman at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Garnavillo, at 10:30 a.m. Friday. Casket bearers were Jeff Fischer, Steve Fischer, Randy Fischer, Mark Fischer, Heidi Brown, Holly Moppin, Kim Rowland and Ellie Fischer.
Concluding service was at Garnavillo Community Cemetery.
Visitation was at the Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Garnavillo, on Thursday.
Marie (Breitsprecher) Fischer was born the daughter of Henry and Bertha (Wilker) Breitsprecher, July 12, 1919, in Clayton Center.
Marie received her education locally and worked at Thoma's Dairy Bar and Kountry Manor for many years. She was an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, taught Sunday School and was a member of the Ladies Aid. She enjoyed baking, traveling, golfing, and bowling.
On April 7, 1937, she was united in marriage with Earl W. Fischer at St. Mark's Church in Dubuque.
Those left to cherish her memory are four sons, Earl L. (Mary) Fischer of Lynxville, Wis., Larry (Pam) Fischer of Guttenberg, Dennis (Marcia) Fischer of Marion, and Gene (Heather) Fischer of Guttenberg; one sister, Ivanell (Harold) Mueller of Garnavillo; eight grandchildren, Jeff Fischer, Steve (Kathryn) Fischer, Randy (Monica) Fischer, Mark (Cynthia) Fischer, Heidi (Charles) Brown, Holly (Matt) Moppin, Kim (John) Rowland and Ellie Fischer; ten great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers, Glendor and Delbert Breitsprecher; and three sisters, Ruby Klingman, LaVirn Fehlhafer and Marge Hansel.
