Contributor: Connie L.Ellis (Not related)Robert Elmer Peters of Marquette, Iowa, age 76, died on Friday, March 31, 2006 at the Memorial Hospital in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin following a courageous battle with cancer. Services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 3 at the Living Faith United Methodist Parish in Monona, Iowa. Rev. Dennis Gilbert officiated. Interment with military rites was in the Monona City Cemetery. Leonard Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Robert was born to Elmer and Ruby (Levenhagen) Peters on July 16, 1929 on the family farm in rural Monona, Iowa. He graduated from the Monona High School. On February 8, 1956 he and Yvonne Riley were married. To this union were born three children. Robert worked at the Luana Cooperative for many years. After retirement he helped several farmers throughout the area with their field work.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Yvonne on September 3, 2002; two sisters, Delores (Mrs. Harlan Hass) and Gloria and her husband Milton Klima; and his step-father, Albert "Bert" Topel.
Surviving are his three children: Christie and her husband Mark Priebe of Garnavillo, Iowa, Larry and wife Marilee Peters of Marion, Iowa, Robert A. and his wife Beth Peters of Monona, Iowa; his four grandchildren, Katie, Ryan, Colin, and Riley, in addition to a great-grandson, Shawn; and a brother William and his wife Joanne Peters of Guttenberg, Iowa.
