Jackie “Jack” Harbaugh, 70, of Guttenberg, died Sunday, June 9, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque.
Visitation was Friday, June 14, at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Guttenberg.
Jack was born on May 12, 1943, in Dubuque to Elmer and Bertha (Staebler) Harbaugh.
Jack grew up in Guttenberg where he received his education from the Guttenberg School. For 32 years, Jack worked for the Ertl Toy Company in Dyersville. While working for Ertl’s, Jack also worked with commercial fishermen on the Mississippi in Guttenberg.
On May 4, 1963, Jack married Connie Ludovissy at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in North Buena Vista. This marriage blessed the two with five children. Jack was a member of the Guttenberg Eagles Club where he enjoyed a good card game of bid euchre. He enjoyed trips to the casino where he would play his favorite slot machines and for many years, Jack deer hunted with his kids. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and cherished family get-togethers.
Jack is survived by his wife of 50 years, Connie; children, Jeffrey (Betty) Harbaugh, Tim Harbaugh, Tina Funk and Jesse (Sarah) Harbaugh; 13 grandchildren, David, Jeff, Shawn, Shari, Mathew, Alexis, Hunter, Melanie, Drew, Wyatt, Keisha, Trevor and Avery; two sisters, Ruth Bird and Margarite Rentschler; one brother, Harlan Harbaugh; mother-in-law, Louise Ludovissy; sisters-in-law, Jerri (Doug) McGuine, Jane (John) Johnson, Julie (Art) Wille, Cindy (Pat) Wachendorf, Dixie (Paul) Beckman and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Jackie Harbaugh Jr.; one grandson, Dillon Funk; one granddaughter, Kendra Harbaugh; one brother, Charles Harbaugh, father-in-law, Francis “Duke” Ludovissy; one nephew, Nick Wachendorf; one sister-in-law, Pat Harbaugh; two brothers-in-law, Laveral Rentschler and Merlin Bird.
