Postville Herald, Thursday, 2 February 1922.

Mrs. Bernard Bromelkamp was suddenly summoned by death at three o'clock on Saturday morning, Jan. 21, 1922, at the family home in Monona. She apparently had been in good health and her passing away, due to heart failure, came to the family very unexpectedly.

Marla Christina Moeller was born in Messinger, province of Hanover, Germany, Nov. 8, 1854. She emigrated to this country in May 1881, landing at McGregor, Iowa, July 28 of the same year. She was united in marriage to Bernard Bromelkamp at McGregor. Here they resided for a short time, when they moved onto a farm near Luana. In 1886 they took up their residence on the farm near Monona, which has ever since been their home.

Mrs. Bromelkamp was a devoted wife, a loving mother and a true friend. She lived a humble and modest life of faith and self-denial, always having the interest of her family uppermost in her heart. She was a devoted and loyal member of the Catholic church.

The deceased leaves to mourn her departure her husband, four children and one grandchild. The children are Mrs. J. W. Steele of Postville, Ella, Henry and Winifred at home.

The funeral was held Tuesday from the home to St. Patrick's church, where Requiem Mass was celebrated by Rev. J. J. McNamara, who also delivered a fitting sermon. The large concourse of neighbors and friends in attendance was a testimony of the high esteem in which Mrs. Bromelkamp was held by the circle of her acquaintance.

The pall bearers were J. A. Steele, L. Humphrey, J. F. Wagner, John Grady, Dan Doody and Ed Kohler.

Those present at the funeral from out of town were John Langenhorst of Hospers; T. J. Sullivan and Mrs. Marie McDevitt of McGregor; Mr. and Mrs. John Stoeffler and family of Garnavillo; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Stadtmiller, Ed McNeil, Chas. Krumm and Wm. Moritz of Postville.
