Mrs. Michael O'Brien, 77, a life long resident of Cox Creek, passed away Sunday, May 12, 1946 at the home where she had resided for 45 years. Although she had not been in the best of health, death was sudden.
Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at 9:30 from St. Mary's Catholic church, Strawberry Point, with Rev. J.P. Fagan officiating. Burial was made in St. Mary's cemetery.
Catherine Luella Henry, daughter of Alexander and Anna (Carr) Henry was born in cox Creek township, April 5, 1869.
On November 27, 1900 she was united in marriage with Michael F. O'Brien, who preceded her in death Sept. 5, 1927. To this union four children were born; Helen, who preceded her in death, Dec. 25, 1944; Marcus, on the home farm, Mrs. Gerald Lynch and Kathryn of Dubuque, five grandsons and three granddaughters.
Besides the family, she leaves two sisters, Mrs. Rose O'Brien of Strawberry Point and Mrs. Margaret Dinan of Littleport and four brothers, Robert and William of Strawberry Point, Alex of Luverne, Minn., and Peter of Mt. Pleasant, Mich.
Mrs. O'Brien, who was a kind neighbor and loyal friend, was well known for her love and devotion to her family, always solicitous for their happiness and contentment.
The pall bearers were James Brink, Leon Olinger, Brian Farmer, Frank O'Brien, Emmett Thyne and Joe McTaggart.
Out of town relatives and friends were Mr. and Mrs. Joe O'Brien, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Donovan, Mrs. John Urbain, Mrs. Ralph Lynch, Mrs. Cletus Connolly, Mr.and Mrs. Merlin Lynch and family, Mr. Jerry Lynch, all of Dubuque; Mr. and Mrs. E.R. O'Brien, Oelwein, Mrs. J.P. Ivory and sons, Donald and Gernon, Mrs. W.A. Thyne, Clinton.

Mrs. Kate O'Brien died suddenly at the home of her son, Marcus O'Brien at Cox Creek, Sunday morning. She had been in failing health for some time.
As Kathryn Henry, she has spent most of her lifetime at Cox Creek. Her husband and a daughter Helen, a registered nurse, preceded her in death.
Surviving are one son Marcus and two daughters Kathryn O'Brien and Mrs. Gerald (Harriet) Lynch of Dubuque, eight grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Rose O'Brien, and Mrs. Margaret Dinan, four brothers, Robert and Will Henry, Peter Henry of Mount Pleasant, Mich., and Alex Henry of Luverne, Minn.
Her funeral was Tuesday at 9:30 o'clock in St. Mary's church, Strawberry Point, with burial there.
