Funeral services for Mrs. Margaret Roebken, 88, who died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. A.W. Matt, in Peru, Ind., Tuesday morning, were held here Friday afternoon. She was ill for three months.

Mrs. Roebken was born Sept. 11, 1857, in Read township, the daughter of Henry and Margaret Hagensick Schumacher. Shortly after her birth the family moved to Postville, where they lived a brief time before coming to Garnavillo, which had been her home since.

On Dec. 24, 1877, she was married to Fred Roebken, who preceded her in death April 17, 1931. The couple observed their golden wedding anniversary Dec. 24, 1927.

Mrs. Roebken had been living with her daughter since last November, and became ill July 13.

She is survived by two sons, Orville Roebken, Zearing, Ia.; and Abner, of Garnavillo; two daughters, Mrs. Clara Schumacher, Garnavillo, and Mrs. Adelia Matt, Peru, Ind.; four grandchildren, Howard Roebken, Waterloo; Mrs. Margery Klocker, Garnavillo; Winifred Schumacher, Milwaukee, Wis.; and Robert Roebken, who was recently discharged from the army after four years service; two great grandchildren, Katherine and Kirk Roebken, Waterloo; and one sister, Mrs. Bertha Tangeman, Elkader, Ia.

Preceding her in death were her parents, two sisters and five brothers, two of whom died in infancy.

The body was brought here Wednesday afternoon and services were conducted at the Dickman funeral home, and at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran church by the Rev. V. Hackbarth. Burial was in the family lot in the Garnavillo cemetery.

Mrs. Roebken was a member of St. Paul's church and a former member of St. Paul's Ladies Aid society.
