Monona, Ia. - Funeral services for Henry J. Waalk, 72, were held Sunday afternoon at the Methodist church with the Rev. R.C. Jerrell officiating. Burial was in the I.O.O.F. cemetery with members of the lodge assisting. Mr. Waalk died here Friday morning following an illness of several months. He was the last of a family of seven children.
Born in Monona township, Clayton county, March 17, 1873, his entire life was spent in and around Monona. He was married Jan. 4, 1894, to Gertrude Cassaday, and on Jan. 4, 1944, they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
Besides his wife, he is survived by five children, Guy and Ray, both of McGregor, Ia.; Mrs. John (Adeline) Lindblom, St. Paul, Minn.; Mrs. John (Lottie) Beer, Minneapolis, Minn.; Mrs. John (Marian) Clark, Jr., Marquette, Ia.; 21 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. One son, Bennie, preceded him in death in infancy.
