Rosanna "Tamee" Loretta Hazlett

Rosanna “Tamee” Loretta Hazlett, 89, of Monona, Iowa died Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at the Elkader Care Center, Elkader, Iowa.

She was born on June 18, 1923 to Irving and Matilda “Tillie” (Larson) Walters in McGregor, Iowa.

Tamee was the Salutatorian of her graduating class of 1941 in McGregor, Iowa. She was a telephone operator and worked for Marge Goergen coloring photos before she was married.

On March 17, 1945, Tamee was united in marriage with William Cunningham Hazlett in McGregor, Iowa. To this union 5 children were born. She was a devoted wife and mother and worked side by side with William on their farm east of Monona. Tamee’s goal in life was to help others. She was very active in her church and volunteered for a time in the church office.

Tamee is survived by 4 children, William (Catherine) Hazlett Jr. of Shellsburg, Mary (Larry) Elgin of Cedar Rapids, Martha (Greg) Fletcher of Independence and Michele Van Wey of Farmersburg; 4 grandchildren, Beth Ann Hazlett, Amanda Parker, Victoria Van Wey and Alexander “A.J.” Van Wey; 7 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Tamee was preceded in death by her husband, William in 1995; a daughter, Margie Hazlett; her parents; a brother, Burton (Lorraine) Walters and two grandsons, William Hazlett III and Robert Hazlett.

Visitation was held on Sunday, May 19, 2013, from 4-7 pm at the Leonard – Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Monona, Iowa, and also one hour before services at the church on Monday.

Funeral services were held on Monday, May 20, 2013, at 2 p.m. at the Living Faith United Methodist Parish, Monona, Iowa, with Rev. Dennis Hopes and Rev. Carroll Brown officiating. Burial followed in the Monona Cemetery, Monona, Iowa.

Leonard - Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Monona, Iowa, was in charge of arrangements.
