Added by S. Ferrall, June 20, 2013:

Henry Erickson was born Dec. 14, 1864, on the present Helmar Loftsgard place a short distance from the home of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Vellersven, where he departed from this life on Wednesday morning, August 23, 1933, aged sixty-nine years, eight months and nine days. He had been in poor health for many years, suffering from anemia and stomach ailments.

In September, 1889, he was united in marriage to Josephine Nelson. Shortly after their marriage they moved to Inwood, Iowa, where they lived for three years, moving back to the farm now owned by George Landsgard. There they lived until the home was broken up by the death of Mrs. Erickson in 1923.

To Mr. and Mrs. Erickson were born eight children, all of whom live to mourn his departure. They are, Mrs. G.E. Jorgenson, Mrs. Louie Amundson of Clermont, Mrs. Henry Larson of Postville, Mrs. Palmer Larson and Mrs. Clarence Ulstad of Eagle Grove, Mrs. Henry Vellersven near Gunder, Mrs. Earl Peake of Elkader, and the one son Peter Erickson, near Churchtown. There are also seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren, also two brothers, Louie of Montana and Bennie of this community besides many other relatives.

Funeral services were held Friday from the Henry Vellersven home at 1 o'clock and at the Marion church at 2 o'clock. In the absence of the pastor, Rev. Strandjord, Rev. G. Gunsten of Clermont, officiated.
