Postville Herald, Thur., 28 Aug. 1930.

Rosaltha Melvina Rounds, the eldest and last surviving daughter of J. C. and Mahitta Walker Rounds, was born Jan. 2, 1842, in Michigan. A little later she, with her parents, moved to Illinois, where they lived for a time, then moved to Wisconsin, and finally migrated to Iowa by ox team and established a home on a farm in Marion township, Clayton Co., Iowa.

On Feb. 5th, 1865 she was united in marriage to Richard McNally, who had just returned from the Civil War. The newly married couple then set up housekeeping on the farm that has since been her home until her death on Aug. 16, 1930, at the age of 88 years, 7 months and 14 days. Mr. McNally passed away in March 1921.

Twelve children blessed the union of Mr. and Mrs. McNally. They are as follows: Mary Mahitta McFaul of Billings, Mont.; Jabez Owen and Edith Lillian, who both died in infancy; Minnie M. Bunt of Armstrong; Richard of Postville; Lewis at home; Rose May, who died at 3 years; Robert, who died in infancy; William W. of Milwaukee, Wis.; Byrd Steele of Nashua; James C. who died in infancy, and Marion R. of Los Angeles, Calif.

Mrs. McNally was a faithful and consistent Christian woman, sustaining a membership in the M.E. church of Luana, and always evinced the keenest interest in the work of God's kingdom in her own and all other churches, of whatever denomination.

The maternal instinct was strongly developed in Mrs. McNally as evidenced by the large family of children, and by the devotion she betrayed for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, even on the last day of her earthly life.

Mrs. McNally leaves to mourn her passing seven of the twelve children mentioned above, four half-brothers and a half-sister: Frank C. of Marion township; George, Lewis and Mrs. Paulson, all of Clermont; also 24 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted from the home of her son, Lewis McNally, on Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 19, 1930, at two o'clock by the Rev. Louis H. Joslin. Interment was made in the Eno cemetery.
