James Ricketts, Marquette, Iowa, March 30, 2013

James C. Ricketts, 66, of Marquette, passed away Saturday, March 30, 2013 at Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital, Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin.

James Carl, the son of Robert and Dora (McCain) Ricketts, was born October 1, 1946 in Dubuque, Iowa. He attended Gays Mills High School in Gays Mills, Wisconsin. James served in the U.S. Navy.

He was united in marriage with Barbara Goforth Rowe on May 12, 1971. To this union two children, Kevin and Angella were born. They were later divorced. James was a career truck driver and had worked for Warren Transport since 2001.

James was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and he was also a member of the American Legion. He loved to hunt, fish, and being outdoors. He always told everybody he always got the biggest one. He was also a very dedicated friend.

James is survived by his two children, Kevin (Bobby Jo) Ricketts of Beach Grove, Tennessee; and Angella Peterson of New London, Wisconsin; his former wife, Barbara (Richard) Rowe of Manawa, Wisconsin; seven grandchildren, Amanda, Michaela, Leigh, Shelby, Aubree, Kiley, and Abigail; one great grandson, Spencer; two sisters, Patricia (David) Murray of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin; Jane Dennler of Elkader, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.

James was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Gerald Granger; and one sister, Marjorie Esters.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, April 5, 2013 at Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in McGregor, Iowa.

Inurnment will be held at a later date.

Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of McGregor, Iowa is in charge of arrangements.
