Relatives here received the sad news of the death of Mrs. Elsie Gilbert, who passed away at her home in Monona on Thursday morning, June 25th. Funeral services were held from the Methodist church in Monona on Saturday afternoon. Interment was made in the city cemetery. The sympathy of the community is extended to the family in their sad bereavement.

Mrs. Harold L. Gilbert died on Thursday morning at her home here, after many months of illness and suffering.
Surviving are the widower, Harold L. Gilbert; a daughter, Shirley Gilbert; her mother, Mrs. Katherine Schmorsted of Castalia; one brother, Fred Shelhamer, and four sisters, Clara, Mrs. R. W. Bernhard of McGregor; Helen, Mrs. Roy G. Owen of Cedar Rapids, and Anna and Mae of Castalia.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 Saturday afternoon from the first Methodist church, Rev. L. H. Joslin officiating, with burial in the city cemetery.
Mrs. Gilbert was a woman greatly loved and admired by all who knew her. She was unusually ambitious and greatly interested in her church work. The sympathy of the entire community is extended the family in their loss.
