Marilyn Ann Frieden, 78, Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, formerly of Farmersburg, Iowa, died Monday, February 25, 2013, at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital, La Crosse, Wisconsin. She was born on November 17, 1934 to Elon and Mary Ann (Chapman) DeWitte in Manchester, Iowa. Marilyn graduated from Arlington High School, Arlington, Iowa in 1952.
Marilyn was united in marriage to Milo William Frieden on April 28, 1954 in Arlington, Iowa. To this union six children were born. She worked at a bank following high school until marriage. She and Milo farmed for many years, she also worked at Central Community Schools in Elkader. She enjoyed baking, gardening and she loved her flowers.
Marilyn is survived by her husband Milo of 58 years; her children, David Mark Frieden (special friend Dianna) of Cedar Rapids, Greg Frieden of St. Olaf, Karen Harvey of Des Moines, Jeff Frieden of Dubuque and Mari Ellen Koehn of Monona; six grandchildren, Holly (Alex) Randell, Jeremy (Sara) Frieden, Rob (Joan) Frieden, Brian Harvey, Ethan Koehn and Macayla Koehn; seven great-grandchildren, Graham, Clayton and Jocelyn Randall, Bryce Frieden, Cole Rempt and Haley and Ella Frieden; her two sisters, Audrey (Kenny) Garetson of Lamont and Janet (Jim) McCalmont of Centenial, Colorado and her sister-in-law, Darla DeWitte of Elgin.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her daughter, Lisa Frieden; her parents; two grandsons, Michael Frieden and Matt Frieden and her brother, Gary DeWitte.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 1, 2013, from 4-7 p.m. at Norway Lutheran Church, St. Olaf, Iowa. Visitation will also be held one hour before services at the church on Saturday.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Norway Lutheran Church, St. Olaf, Iowa. The Rev. Marshall Hahn will officiate.
Inurnment will be held at Illyria Cemetery, rural Elgin, Iowa.
Leonard – Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Monona, Iowa, is in charge of arrangements.
