Gregory John Rodenberg, McGregor, Iowa, February 19, 2013
Gregory John Rodenberg, 54, McGregor, Iowa, died Tuesday, February 19, 2013, at the Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital, Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. Greg was born on July 20, 1958, at Prairie du Chien, to Benny and Lucy (Kellogg) Rodenberg. Greg was raised in the Marquette and McGregor area. He lived in Manson, Iowa, for several years before moving back to McGregor, Iowa, where he was employed by Gencor-Bituma, for nearly twenty-five years.
Greg, or Ole, as he was known by most people, enjoyed socializing with his family and friends. He had a special love for his grandchildren, Katrina, Hailey, Leah and Blakelee. He also had a fondness for his dog Kiana. Fishing, collecting NASCAR and Dale Ernhardt memorabilia were favorite hobbies.
Survivors include his mother Lucy Rodenberg of McGregor; son, Gregory (Bobby) of Boscobel, Wisconsin; his daughters, Amy (friend, Jeff Hazen) of Wauzeka, Wisconsin and Melissa (James) Bridgeford of Tennessee; his sisters, Penny Rodenberg and Wendy Ferguson both of McGregor; his brothers, Mark (Debbie Eilers-Lange) Rodenberg and Brian (Cheryl) Rodenberg, all of McGregor and Clifford (Janelle) Rodenberg of Garnavillo; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ole will be remembered by many for his friendliness to all and for his beard, which he hung onto for dear life. Whether known by Greg or Ole, he will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 22, 2013, from 2-8 p.m. at the Thornburg – Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of McGregor, Iowa and one hour before services at the church on Saturday.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2013, at 1 p.m. at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in McGregor, Iowa.
Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, McGregor, Iowa.
Thornburg – Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of McGregor, Iowa is in charge of arrangements.
