Lansing - James Leon Mitchell, 93, died Monday, Nov. 27, 1995, in Thornton Manor Care Center after an illness. Services: 11 a.m. Friday, St. Joseph Catholic Church, New Albin. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the New Albin Town House, where a Scripture reading begins at 7 p.m. Arrangements are with Burke-Thornburg Funeral Home, Lansing.

Survivors include three daughters, Mary Jo Colsch of Caledonia, Minn., Teresa Kubitz of New Albin and Ester Benesh of Cedar Rapids; and six sons, Geral of Alburnett, Raymond of Minneapolis and William, David, Earl and Lawrence, all of New Albin.

Research Alert! Although Mr. O'Brien indicates that the Allamakee co. death record for James Mitchell is the source giving St. Mary's cemetery, McGregor as burial place, it seems more likely that he would be buried in the same cemetery as his wife, St. Joseph's cemetery, New Albin. Because this obituary does not specifically give the cemetery of burial, researchers need to confirm.
