Rites Held For Mrs. Suddendorf
Martha Elizabeth (Montour) Suddendorf, daughter of Edward and Katherine (Probst) Montour was born April 8, 1886 in Monona Township, Clayton county, and passed away at the Community Memorial Hospital, Postville, on Thursday, March 30, 9:15 p.m., at the age of 80 years, 11 months and 22 days.
She was educated in the rural schools of Monona township. She was a member of Pilgrim E. U. B. Church and the W. S. W. S. of Monona.
She was united in marriage to Arthur F. Suddendorf on February 24, 1915 at her home. To this union four children were born. Mr. Suddendorf preceded her in death August 5, 1938. Also preceding her were her parents; 2 sisters, Blanche (Fred) Hall, and Ellen (Clyde) Probst; and one brother, Edward Montour.
Surviving are her 4 children: Irene (Jack) Messler of Postville, Kenneth of Monona, Robert of New Lenox, Illinois, and Eugene of Postville; 15 grandchildren; and one brother, Les of Des Moines.
Funeral services were held Sunday, April 2 at 2 p.m. at Pilgrim Ev. U. B. Church, Monona. Burial was in the Monona East Side City Cemetery, the Rev. John W. Petersen officiating.
