Funeral Services For Charles Stade
Funeral services for Charles John Stade, 85, of Farmersburg were held Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 20, at 2 o'clock at St. John Lutheran church in Farmersburg with Rev. R. E. Langholz of Monona officiating.
Burial was in the Farmersburg and Wagner cemetery.
Mr. Stade became ill the first part of August and was taken to the hospital. Several weeks ago he was taken to the Good Samaritan home at West Union. He died Monday morning, Oct. 18, at 2 o'clock at Palmer Memorial hospital at West Union.
He was born a son of John and Minnie (Mecklenburg) Stade, June 29, 1896, in Cox Creek township, clayton county. He was baptized at Zion Lutheran church at Clayton Center by Rev. F. W. Seifert, Oct. 28, 1886. He attended the rural schools in Clayton county.
He was married Feb. 23, 1910, to Evalena Wahls at Farmersburg by Rev. Ernest Pett. After their marriage, they farmed near Clayton, Froelich, National and Farmsburg. About 28 years ago, they retired to Farmersburg.
Mrs. Stade died Oct. 20, 1968. His daughters, Mrs. Leroy (Emma) Hoth and Ruby Stade died as a result of a car accident in 1965.
After his retirement, Mr. Stade worked at various jobs around Farmersburg.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, his daughters; 2 sisters, Mrs. Minnie Rohwedder and Mrs. Alma Behrends; and 2 brothers, John and George.
Surviving are one brother, Fred of Strawberry Point; 2 grandchildren, Mrs. Keith Mohning of Garnavillo and Gary Hoth of Monona; and 2 great grandchildren, John and Janet Mohning.
Pallbearers were Louis Seitz, Carl Schmidt, Norman Sedlmayr, William Tielbar, and Keith Radloff.
