Funeral services for Ruth Staake were held Wednesday, August 10, 1983 at 10:30 a.m. at the Marion Lutheran Church in Gunder. The Rev. Duane Berg officiated. The Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Marion Lutheran Cemetery.
Ruth Cecelia Staake, daughter of Lars and Ingebur "Belle" (Knutson) Olson, was born January 15, 1905 on a farm in Marion township, Clayton County, Iowa. She passed away August 7, 1983 at Community Memorial Hospital in Postville.
She was baptized June 7, 1905 at the Norway Lutheran Church and confirmed January 15, 1919 at the Marion Lutheran Church. She attended the Vellersven School near Gunder.
On October 7, 1925 she was married to Marvin Joseph Staake. To this union four children were born. They farmed in Marion Township until 1958 when they moved to Elgin.
She is preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Leonard.
Surviving are 3 sons, Lester "Bud" of Elgin, Marvin (Jr.) of Spirit Lake, Iowa and Roger of St. Olaf, Iowa; a daughter, Rachial, (Mrs. James Sharpsteen) of Cedar Falls, Iowa, 10 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and 2 brothers, Lyle of St. Olaf and Glen of Elkader.
