DIED- At her home in Monona township, on Monday, February 11th, 1895, of catarrhal consumption, Catharine, wife of Joseph Garmes: aged 65 years, 6 months and 8 days.
Deceased was born in Mecklenburg, Germany. With her husband she came to America and settled near Garnavillo, Clayton county, nearly 39 years ago. From Garnavillo the family removed to Farmersburg township, and later into Monona township, where the home has been for the past 25 years. Mrs. Garmes was the mother of eight children, two of whom - a son and a daughter - died some years since. Of the children now living there are two sons and for daughters - Henry and John, and Mrs. Henry Kluss, of this city, Mrs. Berg, of Clayton Centre, Mrs. Mary Knute, of Luana, and Miss Frederica, at home with the aged father. The memory of this loving mother, faithful wife and genial neighbor will be held as precious legacy by all. The funeral took place to-day at noon, when the remains were laid to rest in Wagner cemetery.

Mrs. Garms, mother of H. A. Garms and Mrs. Henry Kluss, of this city, died last Monday, after a lingering illness. She resided south of Luana. Funeral yesterday.
Since the above was in type we learn that Catharine Garmes came to America and settled in Clayton county 38 years ago. Her age was 65 years, 6 months and 3 days. She leaves two sons and four daughters, a son and a daughter having died before her.
