Lucinda Moody was born February 16th, 1860, 2 miles south of McGregor, Iowa, in Moody Settlement. Her mother died when she was 4 years old. She and E.C. Stevens were married December 26th, 1877, at the bride's parental home. After a period of 49 years, 9 months and 7 days, Mrs. Stevens died at the Hull Hospital, September 3rd, 1926, after an illness of 8 days, aged 66 years, 6 months and 23 days. Cause of death, apoplexy.
Mrs. Stevens was a faithful, self-sacrificing wife, mother and neighbor, always willing to render her service in sickness, for charity, and as a social member of society, inso far as she was able. She affiliated with the Methodist church in former years and was a Christian from early childhood.
Her husband, one brother, Gammel Moody, one sister, Prudence Albaugh, and one daughter, Ida Mae Smylie, of Rock Valley, Iowa, survive her. Funeral services were held at Hull, Iowa, at 2 p.m. September 4th, and services at the Methodist church and burial in Moody Cemetery, at McGregor, Iowa, September 5th at 1:45 p.m.
