Wounded In Korea, Young Soldier Dies.
Strawberry Point (Special) - A war department telegram has notified Mr. and Mrs. Julius Klebbe of the death of their son, Pvt. Julius Raymond Klebbe, Jr., 21, fatally wounded in the Battle of Triangle Hill, Korea.
An earlier wire informed the parents that Pvt. Klebbe suffered serious wounds from shell fragments in the abdomen, chest, left arm and leg when injured Oct. 29 in Kumhwa Valley. Death came Nov. 1. The family has requested the body be returned for burial.
The youth entered military service Oct. 3, 1951. He spent his last furlough at home May 15 to June 1, 1952, and arrived in Korea on July 10 to fight with the 7th Imfantry division of the U. S. Army. Wounded once previously, he had returned to combat after treatment.
Julius R. Klebbe, Jr., was born March 10, 1931, on a farm north of Strawberry Point. He was baptized in the Congregational church in Strawberry Point and attended a rural school near here. Before entering the serice, he had been employed as a truck driver by the Kaberle Farm Supply. He planned to return to that job after his discharge.
Pvt. Klebbe is survived by his parents, who now live near Garber; a sister, Mrs. Ray Sauerbry (Julia) of Spokane, Wash.; and a sister, Mrs. Clair Faust (Ada)of Strawberry Point. He was preceded in death by another sister, Mary.
