Jennie Martha Boots Mosby, daughter of James and August Boots, was born at Elkader, Iowa, on
October 11, 1876, and died in the Decorah hospital on Thursday morning, January 28, 1932, aged fifty-five years, three months and seventeen days. Her early years were spent at Cresco, Oelwein, and Elkader. She completed her education at Elkader, graduating from the high at that place. In 1898 she came with her parents to Elgin, where they passed their remaining years.

On December 29, 1900, she was united in marriage to Samuel Mosby at Elgin, where they have
since lived and where to them were born five children, Gordon, who is with his father in the Elgin State Bank, Mrs. Augusta Schori of Elgin, Mrs. Harriet Zimmerlin of Webster City, and Marie and Ruth who reside at home.

When a young woman she became a member of the M. E. church at Elkader. After coming here she
transferred her membership to the St. Paul’s M. E. church at this place. For many years she has been a useful and active member of the official board of the church and was always ready to do her part in all the work of its various organizations. For the past two years she has been a progressive worker in the Sunday school and held the office of assistant superintendent. She was also an active member in the Order of the Eastern Star. Her many friends and associates in the church, lodge and other organizations feel that they have lost one of their most loyal members. Mrs. Mosby will be remembered in love and respect by the entire community.

She is survived by her husband, five children, six grandchildren, one brother, Samuel Boots of
Elkader, two sisters, Mrs. Arthur Dibble of Spokane Wash., Mrs. Anton Halstenson of Edmondton,
Canada, also nephews, nieces and other near relatives. These mourn the loss of a loving mother, and devoted companion who never spared herself when others were in need of her help.

The funeral services largely attended were held from St. Paul’s M. E. church on Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock, conducted by her pastor, Rev. J. J. Snyder. The many and beautiful floral tributes
expressed the high esteem in which she was held. Hymns were sung by Mrs. Mel Kohler, Mrs. Mac
Bopp, Gus Hackman and C. B. Schori. Mrs. Louis Klingman played the accompaniment. The pall
bearers were Edward Klingman, John Falb, F. R. Berg, Efford Hunsberger, R. W. Muehlenthaler
and Ernest Schori. Burial was made in the Elgin cemetery.
