Postville Review, Fri., 20 Dec. 1907.

William J. Walker was born in Pike county, Missouri, Sept. 21, 1834, and died at the home of his son, Edgar W. Walker, near Hobart, Kiowa county, Oklahoma, Nov. 23, 1907, aged 78 years, 2 months and 2 days. He was the son of Thomas B. and Polly Walker. His mother died when he was three years old. He passed his boyhood and school days in Clayton county, Iowa. He remained with his father until his 19th year when he was married to Matilda H. Mitchell, of Clayton county, Iowa, making 54 years this couple have lived together. To this union were born four children- Oscar E., Edgar W., Perry H. and Wilbur L., who survive and were present at the funeral. Mr. Walker was never a member of any church, but was a good husband, kind father and accommodating neighbor. He was a man that lived in fear of God and believed that every man should answer for himself. He moved to Oklahoma, October 1899. The funeral was held from the home, Nov. 24th.

The above from a Oklahoma paper relates the death of one well known by old residents of Hardin.
