Postville Review, Fri., 19 Oct. 1900.

Richard M. Pearson was born in Lewisville, Penn., Aug. 1, 1831, and died at his residence in Grand Meadow township, Oct. 10, 1900.

Deceased came with his parents to Iowa in 1839, and settled in what later became Clayton county. He lived for a time in Cassville, and continued to reside within the bounds of this county until 1868, when he removed to Madison county, thence a few years later to Atlantic, Cass county, where he engaged in the livery business. After some years he became a resident of Marshalltown where he resided until 1894, when he returned to Clayton Co., and settled with his family at the Cayton homestead.

Deceased was twice married, in Nov. 1850, to Miss Louisa B_ckover, by whom he had three children, two of whom are living, Mrs. Ella Cross of Danforth, MO., and Mrs. Ida Brown, of Marshalltown, IA.

His second wife was Annetta, sister of his first wife, to whom he was married Sept. 21, 1857. Of this marriage five children were born. Those living are Mrs. Cora Bushfield of Miller, S.D.; Mr. Duane Pearson and Miss Tina Pearson, of Omaha, Neb. Some two years since he was taken ill with what proved to be cancer, and from which he was a great sufferer much of the time since, though death was hastened by pneumonia which brought the end on Wednesday, Oct. 10.

The funeral was held at the home and was attended by a large number of sympathizing friends. Sermon by Rev. L. N. Green. The remains were laid to rest in Grand Meadow cemetery.
