ENO, LYTLE, FAY, DAUBENBERGER, HOCKING, WUNN

John Eno, 70, a lifelong resident of Wagner township, passed away suddenly while helping with the haying operations at the home farm last Wednesday. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the family home, conducted by the Rev. Lehr H. Newhouse, pastor of the Community church of Postville, and interment was in the Eno cemetery in wagner township.

John Lytle Eno was born in Wagner township, Clayton county, September 17, 1873, the second son of William P. and Isabel Lytle Eno. He spent almost his entire lifetime on the same farm which his fahter had acquired directly from the United States government in 1854.

H attended school in Wagner township and at Sheffield and Postville. He also attended Valder Business College in Decorah and the College of Agriculture at Madison, Wis.

On September 2, 1903, he was married to Mary Elizabeth Fay at the home of her mother in Postville and spent their entire married life on the home farm. The couple had two sons, William Oliver and James Fay Eno. Both sons with their wives have made their homes on the ancestral farm. A nephew, William Eno, spent several years on the Eno farm and came to regard Mr. Eno almost as his father. Two other nephews, William Daubenberger and Charles Hocking, also lived for a time with their uncle.

Mr. Eno was always interested in his community. He helped organize the Farmers Telephone company and served three years as secretary. He was one of the organizers of the Farmers Store at Gunder and for a time served as its president. He was a charter member of the Clayton county Farm Bureau. He had been a member of the Modern Woodmen lodge of Postville for 32 years.

Surviving him are his wife, his two sons and their wives, and three grandsons, all of whom live on the family farm. There remain also one sister, Jenny Hocking of Minneapolis, Minn. His parents, his brother, William and two sisters, May Daubenberger and Minnie Wunn, preceded him in death.
