Henry W. Turner, the son of Tertius (see 2nd obit below) and Abigail Turner, was born in Massachusetts on March 10, 1842, and departed this life at his home in Monona, Iowa, on Saturday, January 5, 1935 at the age of 92 years, nine months and 26 days.

In 1865 he was united in marriage to [illegible] Nichols, and to this union were born four children, two of whom survive him, namely: Eugene of Grand Meadow, Minnesota and Harry N. of ---ville, Iowa.

When Henry Turner was five weeks of age his family moved into Connecticut, coming to Wisconsin after six years and settling ona farm near Madison. In 1856 they came to Iowa and made their home on what was known for many years as the Four-mile House, about four miles distant from McGregor.

About 1860 the family settled on a peice of land eight miles southwest of Monona, which was developed into a fine farm to which Henry Turner brought his wife, and where all the children were born and reared.

In 1903 Mr. and Mrs. Turner came to Monona, where Mrs. Turner passed away on December 10, 1904, after which Abbie Turner, the daughter, assumed the duties of housekeeper until her death in 1929. Since that time he has been under the care of his granddaughter, Esther Fonday.

Although Mr. Turner never held or [illegible] to public office, he was one of Monona's most respected citizens. His life was an open book, and his industry, indulged in lang after the normal period of retirement, and his honesty of life, are two well known characteristics, appreciated by all who knew him.

There remains to mourn his passing, beside the children mentioned above, - grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, three nieces and one nephew, in Grand Meadow, Minn., beside a number of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted at - p.m. on Tuesday, January 8, 1935, by the Rev. Louis H. Joslin of the First Methodist church, at the Schultz funeral home. Interment was made in the Eno cemetery. - Monona Leader
