Mrs. William J. Splies

Mrs. Maude E. Splies, 76, wife of William J. Splies, passed away at their home in New Hampton on Wednesday morning, March 23. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Truman. She was born May 31, 1872 at Luana and lived in Luana all her life with the exception of 10 years ago when they moved to Decorah, then to Charles City and to New Hampton.

She leaves to mourn her departure, her husband and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 1 o'clock in the Perry Chapel at New Hampton and at 3:30 o'clock in the Methodist Church, Luana. Burial took place in the Luana cemetery.

The Rev. Hillis C. Culver of New Hampton officiated.

Postville, Iowa newspaper of the time clipping, hand dated 1949, from Dorothy Schave's obituary collection.
