Lillian (Handley) McGaugh Ball

Funeral services for Mrs. Charles Ball, the former Lillian Handley, 68, were held Thursday afternoon, June 2, at 2 p.m. at the Schultz Funeral home in Monona with Rev. R. E. Langholz of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran church officiating. Burial was in St. Paul Lutheran cemetery.

Mrs. Ball became seriously ill, Thursday, May 26, and was taken to the Postville hospital, where she died Tuesday afternoon, May 31.

As Lillian, she was born January 31, 1898, at Taylorville, Ill., the daughter of Lud and Ida (Schneider) Handley at Taylorville, Ill. She attended the public schools in Murphysboro, Ill., and was baptized there in the Christian faith, April 6, 1913.

In 1915, she was married to Jack McGaugh. They lived in East St. Louis, where he died in 1953. She was married to Charles Ball, July 29, 1957, at Belleville, Ill. At this time, she moved to Monona where she has lived ever since. In 1964, she received instruction in the Lutheran faith and was confirmed June 21, 1964.

Preceding her in death were her parents, first husband, Jack McGaugh; one sister, Mrs. Mae Hanson, and one brother, Ray Handley.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by one sister, Mrs. Hallie Silvey of East St. Louis, Ill., and 2 brothers, George Handley of Los Angeles, Calif., and Lawrence Handley of Murphysboro, Ill.

Pallbearers were Bert Bruehahn, Lloyd Bacon, Harold Jarms, Ray Kottman, Hubert Sass, and Helmuth Suckow.
