Mrs. Darlene K. Blakeman, 78, of Stonehill care Center, formerly of 1020 Iris Court, died at 7:05 a.m. Friday, Oct. 31, 2003, at the care center.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, with burial in Linwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Dennis Kitchen Funeral home, 3860 Asbury Road. Friends also may call after 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church.

Mrs. Blakeman worked as a secretary at Jefferson Junior High School for 27 years, retiring in 1986.

She was born on Dec. 17, 1924, in Garber, Iowa, daughter of Charles and Luella (Dannenbring) Harris. She graduated from Guttenberg (Iowa) High School.

She married Kenneth M. Blakeman on June 25, 1955, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Dubuque; he preceded her in death on Nov. 21, 1994.

She was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran church and a former member of the John Deere retirees.

Surviving are a sister, Orvilda Dettman, of Guttenberg, Iowa; two sisters-in-law, Betty (Wayne) Bauer and Harriet Avenarius, both of Dubuque; a niece, Julie Dettman, of Guttenberg; and a nephew, David (Marion) Dettman, of Hagerstown, Md.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Ralph Harris.

Memorial maybe given to St. Matthew Lutheran Church.
