Postville Herald, Thur., 7 Apr. 1921.

Richard McNally was born October 19, 1835, in county Made, Ireland, twelve miles from Dublin, and died March 23, 1921, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John Steele of Nashua, where he and his wife were visiting.

He came to this country when a boy. At the time of the Civil war he enlisted and served his country with honor for a period of three years. On his return from the war he was united in marriage with Melvinia Rosaltha Rounds, and settled down to housekeeping on a farm in Clayton county, south of Luana, which he owned prior to going to war and which place has been his home continuously since. This union was blessed with twelve children, seven of whom survive-- Mrs. J. J. McFaul, Musselshell, Mont.; Mrs. James Bunt, Armstrong, Iowa; Richard E. McNally, Postville; L. J. McNally on the old homestead; W. W. McNally, Moffit, N.D.; Mrs. John Steele, Nashua, Iowa; M. J. McNally, Luana-- who with the wife, nineteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, mourn his loss.

The funeral was held from St. Bridget's Catholic church in this city on Easter Sunday morning, after which the remains were taken to Eno cemetery in Wagner township for burial.
