Gustav Borcherding

Funeral services were held Thurs., Dec. 14, at 1 p.m., from St. John Lutheran Church in Waukon for Gustav Borcherding of Luana, 82, who passed away Mon., Dec. 11 in Waukon Veterans Memorial Hospital. The Rev. Marlyn Hansing officiated and burial was in St. Paul Cemetery near Guttenberg.

Mr. Borcherding was born May 5, 1890 in Guttenberg and was a son of Conrad and Margreta (Kregel) Borcherding. He was educated in the local schools and his occupation was farming. He moved to Allamakee Co. in 1941. On March 7, 1916 he married Mabel Lundt. There is a son, Arthur, and 2 daughters, Mrs. Milo (Anita) Brainard and Mrs. Lloyd (Noraline) Lamborn, all of Luana; 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Preceding him in death were 3 children who died in infancy and 4 brothers: Henry, William, Fred and Otto; and a sister, Louise.

Mr. Borcherding was a member of St. John Lutheran Church of Guttenberg until moving to Allamakee Co., when he became a member of St. John Lutheran Church of Waukon. Martin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Lawrence Powell, Harva Oelberg, and Alvin, Harold, Elmer and Herbert Borcherding.
