Services For Mrs. Wm. Biggs
Services for Mrs. William (Effie) Biggs were held in Monona United Methodist Church on Tuesday afternoon, June 27, with the Rev. Raymond Pacholke officiating. Mrs. Ivon Schultz served as organist and Mrs. Ben Frese was soloist.
Mrs. Biggs, 97, was the daughter of John and Ellen (Barnhouse) Diamond. She was born September 8, 1874, near McGregor and passed away at the Decorah Retirement Center in Decorah June 24 after a short illness.
She was educated in the Mendon Township rural schools. She was united in marriage to William Biggs on January 1, 1896. Four children were born to this union, 3 daughters, who survive and a son who died in infancy. They farmed in the Monona area until they moved into Monona in 1924.
Mrs. Biggs was a member of the United Methodist Church for 66 years. She was also a member of the Woman's Relief Corps for 46 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
She leaves 3 daughters to remember her: Mrs. Edgar (Carrie) Ziegler of Monona, Mrs. Dorothy Dull of Dubuque and Mrs. Robert (Lois) Mork of McGregor; 6 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Daniel Gruber, Eldon Dull, Dale Diamond, Earl Allert, Vern Koth, J. A. Martins, H. Leslie Leas and Richard Hagensick, Sr.
