SERVICES HELD FOR LAWRENCE SCHULTZ

Lawrence Schultz, Luana, passed away June 10, 1978 in the Community Memorial Hospital in Postville. He attained the age of 78 years, 9 months, 8 days.

Funeral services were held Tues., June 13, 1978 at 10:30 a.m. in St. John Lutheran Church in Luana. Pastor Lee Mentink officiated. Music was provided by the choir and congregational singing. Burial was in St. John Lutheran Cemetery.

Pallbearers were John Rynasiewicz, David Schultz, Donald Schultz, Robert Rynasiewicz, John Schultz, August Schultz and William Ohloff.

Lawrence William Schultz was born Sept. 2, 1899, in Post Township, Allamakee County, the son of August and Dora Schultz. He was baptized on Jan. 7, 1900 by Pastor Bockelmann at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville, and was confirmed on March 28, 1915 by Pastor Schmidt at St. Paul Lutheran. He attended school in the area.

On November 1, 1921 he was united in marriage to Lucille Lange by Pastor Schmidt at St. Paul Lutheran, Postville. To this union two children were born, Erma Jean and Robert.

Lawrence farmed in the Luana area until his retirement in 1947. In 1922 he became a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Luana, and was a member of the brotherhood. He served on the Luana Town Council, was a member of several farm organizations, and was at one time a director of Lutheran Credit Union.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one granddaughter, Deborah Schultz, three brothers - Roy, Elmer, and Kenneth; and one sister, Bertha Wirsching. He is survived by his wife, Lucille, his daughter, Mrs. Joseph (Erma Jean) Rynasiewicz, Cleveland, Ohio, one son, Robert of Luana, his son-in-law, Joseph, and daughter-in-law, Betty, one granddaughter, Susan Spaletto of Danville, California, three grandsons, John and Robert Rynasiewicz of Minneapolis, Minn., and David Schultz of Luana; five sisters - Velma Ohloff, Postville, Milda Water, Highland, Indiana, Gertrude Kohl, Fairbault, Minn., Mardella Brooks, Bentonville, Arkansas, Doris Albertson, Boise, Idaho, and one brother, Harry of Postville; nieces and nephews, and other relatives.
