Edward McCarthy, 78, of 327 Molino Ave., died yesterday at his home. He was born in McGregor, Iowa, and came to Long Beach nine years ago from Billings, Mont. when he retired as a railroad conductor for the Northern Pacific railway. He belonged to the Order of Railway Conductors and the Knights of Columbus in Billings, and St. Matthew's Catholic parish here. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Sena McCarthy, Long Beach; three nephews, Jimm Derrick, Seattle; Dr. Jim Crahen, Portland, Ore.; Dr. Frank Crahen, St. Paul, Minn; two nieces, Mrs. Catherine Gillick and Mrs. J. Hunziger, Mankato, Minnesota.
The Sheelar-McFayden mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements.
