Mrs. Harvey (Meta Minnie Dorthea Sass) Sass
Meta Minnie Dorthea Sass died Thursday at Palmer Memorial Hospital in West Union. Services were Saturday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Monona with Pastor Harold Ward in charge. The organist was Mrs. Florence Evans and soloist was Dean Schultz.
Burial was in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in Monona. Pallbearers were James, Richard and Robert Sass, Rick and Roger Wilker, Brian Meyer and Lloyd Feickert.
Schultz's Funeral Home, Monona, was in charge of the services.
She was born Nov. 30, 1893, in Monona twp., Clayton County, Iowa to George and Louise Suelter Sass. She was baptized Feb. 4, 1894 by Rev. G. W. Seifert at Clayton Center and confirmed April 12, 1908 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church by Rev. Otto Wappler. She received her education in Lamker country school.
Jan. 8, 1925 she was married to Harvey Sass at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Monona by Pastor Daugs. They had 3 children.
The couple farmed in the Monona area for many years. In 1953 they retired and moved to Monona. She was member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and Hope Circle.
Preceding her in death were her husband, who died Dec. 4, 1981; 4 brothers, William, George, Hubert and Eldo; 3 sisters, Ella Brase, Lucy Sass and Mildred Lembke and 2 grandchildren.
Surviving is one son, Don of Luana; 2 daughters, Shirley Henkes of Farmersburg and Jeanette Wilker of Clermont; 17 grandchildren; 43 great grandchildren and one sister, Leona Froning of Monona.
